My name is Bonnie. My yoga journey began 15 years ago so becoming a yoga teacher was a natural and welcomed progression for me. I have had the pleasure to be a practitioner and study Iyengar, Hatha, vinyasana and yin styles of yoga. I am RYT 200 yoga alliance certified. To be able to share the gift of yoga with others is a great joy for me!
I came into yoga due to chronic neck and back pain. From a young age I had countless visits to chiropractors and massage therapists to help deal with the pain. It was not until my adult years I began to receive multiply suggestions that I should try yoga to aid my neck and back. After finally succumbing to what almost seemed like fate leading me in a certain direction. I walked into my first Iyengar yoga class. I still remember the first time I did supported bridge with a block under my sacrum. I recall how painful it was for me and could barely do it for 10 seconds and would continuously have to come off. I kept with it and slowly but surely I began to strengthen my back and neck while also gaining flexibility. I had to stick with it, I had to set an intention to do the work. I truly believe this is the beauty of yoga, it is not always easy, it can be heart work, it can be hard work. BUT if you stick with it, it can be the greatest work of all - the more you learn about yourself the more connected and resilient one becomes. I try to teach with that in mind.
My wish is that we are all able to honour our own journey in some way and come to realize our true potential. To celebrate the small things even though it can be difficult at times. To come to know that it is not the end result or goal but the moments in between that really matter. That one day we will all believe that we are so much stronger then we give ourselves credit for.
I am honoured to see the growth in my fellow yogis. For on one level we are separate unique beings and on another we are apart of something that connects us.
